Job Title: UI Artist (Video Games)

About the Role:
We are seeking a talented UI Artist to design and implement visually engaging, intuitive, and functional user interfaces for our games. You will work closely with designers, developers, and other artists to create menus, HUDs, icons, and interactive elements that enhance the overall player experience. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for aesthetics, usability, and understands how to blend art direction with functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design high-quality UI elements, including menus, HUDs, buttons, icons, and overlays.

  • Work with game designers to ensure UI enhances gameplay and accessibility.

  • Translate wireframes and design concepts into polished, production-ready assets.

  • Collaborate with technical artists and engineers to implement UI in the game engine.

  • Ensure consistency with the game’s overall art direction and visual identity.

  • Optimize UI assets for performance across multiple platforms, including mobile.

  • Iterate on feedback to refine visual style, readability, and usability.

  • Maintain and expand UI style guides and design systems.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a UI Artist in games or interactive media.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating polished UI work (menus, HUDs, icons).

  • Proficiency with design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, or Sketch).

  • Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, typography, and color theory.

  • Experience implementing UI assets in game engines (Unity, Unreal).

  • Familiarity with responsive design and platform-specific UI requirements (mobile, console, PC).

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

 

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with UI animation and motion graphics (After Effects, Spine, or similar).

  • Knowledge of UX design principles and user testing workflows.

  • Familiarity with accessibility guidelines for UI in games.

  • Iconography and vector illustration skills.

  • Understanding of localization/translation considerations for UI.
